Alf Cadman was Coxswain between 1960 and 1967. He took over from Johnny Walker and was succeeded by Arthur Liddon. He and his crew received a Letter of commendation from the secretary of the RNLI for a service carried out in December 1966. This involved the rescuing of the crew from the Varne light vessel during a violent Force 11 storm.
