Name: Roy Couzens Occupation: Retired Garage Owner and Lifeboat Mechanic/2nd Coxswain. Position in crew: Deputy Launching Authority Joined RNLI: 1977     Roy joined the crew in 1977 and became Second Assistant Mechanic in 1978. He became Second Coxswain/Mechanic in 1979 and until he retired in early 1988 he responded to 241 service calls. His most notable service call was also his last and resulted in his early retirement. This was the service to the MV Sumnia during the 1987 Hurricane for which he received a silver medal. Since his retirement he has served on the Station's Operations Committee. In 2006 he was appointed as one of the Station's Deputy Launching Authorities.
