| Jim joined the Dover crew when the lifeboat was 'Rotary Service' and based in the Submarine Pens. He retired from the sea going crew in 1998 and became a Shore Attendant. He was awarded his Long Service Badge in 2001. During his time on the crew he has been involved in many services including the 'Skyron' collision in 1987, and Hovercraft 'Princess Margaret' striking the Breakwater. He was also on the crew kept at standby for the Herald of Free Enterprise tragedy. As Shore Attendant his longest shout was two days when the 'Norwegian Dream' collided with the container ship 'Ever Decent'. |
