Cut off in Crab Bay - The lifeboat was called out during a July Gale to reports of a person cut off by the tide in the Crab/Fan Bay area. Once directed onto the casualty by Dover Port Control, the lifeboat got as close as they dared. The man was sat well above the water and after discussions with the Coastguard it was decided that as he was safe there it would be too risky to use the Y boat or a Cliff Rescue Team. The man would be left to wait until the tide dropped when he could make his way back to the steps up the cliff. The lifeboat crew using the loud hailer confirmed with the man that he was okay before returning to Station.© John Miell 2008 |
