| Aground on the Goodwins | ||
Just after midnight on 12th August 2001, Dover and Walmer lifeboats were launched to reports of the motor yacht 'Anna Marthine' aground on the Goodwin Sands. The weather was fine, with a Force 6-7 from the South south west and a 2 metre swell. Walmer arrived at the scene first and found the boat was just able to move but without any steering. A Walmer crew member went aboard the vessel and assisted with connecting a tow line to the Dover lifeboat. Accompanied by the Walmer lifeboat the motor yacht was towed to Dover. A letter was later received from the RNLI's Operations Director, Michael Vlasto, praising the teamwork of the two flank stations. |
